Akshay Kumar was going through a lean phase a decade back with flops like Deewane Hue Pagal, Garam Masala, Insaan, and Humko Deewana Kar Gaye. Then ala Aamir Khan, he also took the help of a remake to make a comeback. Rajinikanth’s Blockbuster ‘Chandramukhi’ was remade into Hindi as Bhool Bhulaiya which turned out to be a hit. Though most of the credit went to Vidya Balan for its success, Akshay had finally one decent hit to his credit. Now after 12 years, the Bhool Bhulaiya franchise is back with a sequel but without Akshay Kumar.
Latest heartthrob Kartik Aaryan has been cast as the leading hero replacing Akshay Kumar. It is quite understandable because Akshay Kumar has lost his fan following and is now suitable for uncle-chaap roles like Padman and Mission Mangal. Hit director Anees Bazmee is going to direct this sequel which will be produced by Bhushan Kumar of Saaho fame. Other cast and crew details will be announced soon. The film is slated to release on 31st July 2020.
